Rarest Breed Of Cat

So, what is the rarest breed of cat? Here’s my Top 5

There are many different types of cats in the world, some rare and some not so rare. But, what is the rarest cat in the world? The answer to that question is difficult to determine because there is no one definitive answer. There are a few contenders for the title, so the best I can do is to list the top 5 of the rarest cat breeds in the world.

Turkish Van

The Turkish Van is a breed of domestic cat found in Turkey and is one of the rarest breed of cat. They are one of the oldest cat breeds, and are thought to have originated as long as 3,000 years ago. They are considered a natural, or primitive, breed, meaning that they have not been selectively bred for specific traits like most other cat breeds. Instead, they are believed to be descended from the wild cats that originally inhabited the area.

As one of the rarest cats, the Turkish Van also has a long history. This type of cat has been around since at least the Middle Ages in Eastern Anatolia (modern-day Iraq, Iran, southwest Russia, and eastern Turkey). It is thought that the breed’s seclusion has preserved its distinctive characteristics. Due to the semi-longhair coats on Turkish Vans, they are waterproof, and they like going swimming.

LaPerm

The LaPerm is no different from the other rare cats on our list in that it has its own distinct personality traits. Curly and colorful, LaPerm’s are well-known for their unique coats. Long corkscrew curls or wavy waves are common in the coats of this breed.

The LaPerm cat breed was created as a result of a genetic mutation that occurred naturally in a litter of tabby cats.

Linda Koehl’s farm in Oregon gave birth to the first LaPerm cat in 1982. While Koehl continued to produce this rare curly-haired cat without trying to be selective, the farm’s population grew. Cats with curly hair were determined by Koehl to be dominant in both parents, so he isolated a handful of them. In honor of the new breed’s distinctive curly/wavy hair, Koehl gave it the moniker LaPerm.

Sokoke Cat

The Sokoke is a unique breed of cat that is indigenous to Kenya. They are considered to be one of the rarest breeds in the world, and there are only about 2,000 of them in existence. The Sokoke has a distinctive coat that is composed of several colors, including black, brown, tan, and cream, stripes on these long-legged, striped animals appear to have been drawn on with charcoal. They are a medium-sized cat, and they are known for their gentle temperament and playful nature.

The Sosoke is a naturally occurring, rather than a man-created, breed.

Havana Brown

Havana brown cats are a unique breed of domestic cat. They are descended from Siamese and American Shorthair cats, and were first bred in the 1950s. Havana’s browns are known for their beautiful, mahogany-colored fur, and their friendly personalities.

Long-faced and almond-shaped eyes are also characteristics of the Havana brown’s ancestor, the Siamese.

They make great pets for people who live in apartments or small homes, because they are very active and playful but also relatively quiet.

You can count on a Havana Brown cat to be your best friend for the rest of your life if you earn their trust.

Sphynx

If not in person, then online, you’ve undoubtedly seen a Sphynx cat before. In general, people seem to either adore or despise the appearance of these hairless cats. In 1996, a male cat was born with no fur, and so, they were born. The Sphynx was bred from this cat to produce other cats with the same hairless appearance.

Elegant traits like their huge, almond-shaped eyes and prominent cheekbones distinguish Sphynx cats from other domestic cats. Aside from being beautiful, Sphynx cats also have social and charitable personalities that have made them very sought after.
